The trend of foreign brides marrying Taiwanese men shows no sign of slowing down. Women across the Arab world are redefining their role as leaders in Islam. Veiled
Voices investigates the world of Muslim women religious leaders through the eyes of
three women in Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt. Shot over the course of two years, Veiled
Voices reveals a world rarely documented or filmed before now and explores both the
public and private worlds of these women. The stories of the women featured give
insight into how Muslim women are now increasingly willing to challenge the status quo
from within Islam, promoting Islam as a powerful force for positive transformation in the
world. Each triumphs over difficult challenges as they carve out a space to lead in Islam

An intimate look at the lives of rural women migrating to work as live-in domestic workers in urban centres of India. 'Lejos del mar' ('Far From The Sea') shows us the real and the abstract of the Mexican city Ciudad Juarez, by exploring how a mother's love drives her to madness at the loss of her beloved daughter. 'The Last Chapter : Reading my Father through the Lens' is a story about a Japanese family tormented by a father's strong beliefs. In the last 3 pages of his memoir, he denounced all his children. Shocked, the director the eldest daughter of the family now lives in Canada embarks on a mission to make sense of her family, and finds more than what she had expected.Japan, Thurs. “I love my mother, but I just don’t want to be like her.” Why would successful women from the world’s second largest economic power choose to start their lives over in New York City? The documentary “Mothers’ Way, Daughters' Choice” explores how several Japanese women struggle to reconcile their traditional upbringing and their desire to create unique lives. To understand these struggles, the director, Kyoko Gasha, shows the deep, powerful influences of Japanese culture on her own life. Kyoko also uncovers stories of other Japanese women in New York City, weaving parallel tales of guilt, denial, sacrifice and joy. This is a story of cultures clashing on a personal level.
